Managing Windows start menu
Starting from Windows 95, Microsoft included Start Menu with their Operating Systems which has become an integral part of every day PC use. But many of us will never use it fully.Compared to earlier Windows versions, Windows XP has some what improved Start Menu. But still, you can use many of the tricks mentioned here to further utilize it fully.
Start Menu : Properties Window
Now we need to experiment with Start Menu options. To do this, first we need to open the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window. To start it, follow the steps as given bellow.- Right click on taskbar.
- In the context menu, click "Properties" item.
- Now you have opened "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window. Refer the above fig.
Start Menu : Show/Hide the System Tray Clock
Now lets experiment with the system Timer. Usually this system tray clock ( at the right hand side of taskbar ) remains displayed at the bottom right corner of the screen.If you would like to turn it off, Just uncheck the "Show Clock" option. If you want it back in the system tray, you can always check it to turn it on.
