- jromero 2006-07-16
hello all,

thanks for a nice forum.

I'm using a new Pentium 4 pc with windows xp. The system was working just great.

But from yesterday, It just automatically turns off itself when i start it up. Some times it shutsdown during bios screen and some times while loading windows xp. I dont know what to do now.

Please help.

jromero.

hi romero,

which cpu heat sink fan you are using? i think your pc cpu is heating up. try replacing it. and the problem will be solved in most cases.

good luck.

jromero,

even though what sarah is saying is correct, there are few more suspects too.

Apart from CPU overheating due to a failed cpu heat sink fan, your PSU( aka Power Supply Unit ) may also be of lower capacity. Try changing it with a higher capacity one.

Another reason may be, the RAM chips may be over heating too. Or it may be a failed IC chip on your mother board.

If you are not very good with PC hardware, let your PC be checked by a qualified service technician.

bye.
