backup and restore bookmarks in mozilla firefox!

- cpu_master 2007-11-24
This is a very simple trick which helps us greatly to backup and restore firefox bookmarks.

When we need to re install Windows, after a hard disk formatting, often all our bookmarks which we collected earlier will be gone forever. To avoid this situation and to retain our book marks even after Windows re-installation also, use this method given bellow..

To backup firefox bookmarks follow these steps..

1. Start mozilla firefox.
2. Go to Bookmarks Menu and Click Organize Bookmarks.. menu item(refer the given picture)

3. This opens Bookmarks Manager window.
4. Click File menu in Bookmarks Manager window and click on Export item. (Refer Picture.)

5. Now, firefox displays Export bookmark file dialog box.
6. In this window, type the required backup file name in File Name text box and press Save button.

Now firefox stores all bookmarks data to this specified file. Now, copy this file to a safe storage place (may be a cd, floppy, usb disk etc) so that you can get it when needed.

To restore firefox bookmarks follow these steps..

1. Start mozilla firefox.
2. Go to Bookmarks Menu and Click Organize Bookmarks.. menu item.
3. This opens Bookmarks Manager window.
4. Click File menu in Bookmarks Manager window and select Import item and click Next button.
5. Now, firefox displays Import Wizard window.
6. Click From file as your option in the Import Wizard window(refer picture).

7. Now, firefox displays Import bookmark file dialog box.
8. Select the backedup bookmarks file now and click Open menu item.

Firefox imports all stored bookmarks and Wow! you got back all your favourites there in bookmarks menu!

Please post your doubts if any. And say thanks and a few words of appreciation if it helps you.
