Computer shuts down when i play games

I have a pentium 4 pc with 256 mb ram. The PC works fine when i use it for my office work. But if it is used for playing games it just goes off. Some thing like turning off the PC.
This happens only when I play games like quake and other 3d action games.
If I play other games like Troy2000 or chess games it just works fine.
I tried virus scan, scandisk etc but no use.
why it is shutting down automatically?
please help.

Check your Power Supply Unit and replace it if necessary. Your problem will be solved.

sarah is right. In addition check all the following too..
+ Open the cabinet and clean it for dust.
+ Try using a higher capacity PSU instead of current one.
+ Check if the CPU fan is running or not(if not, you have to replace it)
+ Try replacing Video card with another one and test.
If all these fail, call your pc technician and let him examine.
