bad sectors in hard disk drive problem

- bator 2006-08-29
Recently, when i checked my hard disk with scandisk software, it took lots of time to complete the hard disk check and shown that there are some bad sectors on my disk.

Is there any problem if i continue using the hard disk as it is? how can i remove those bad sectors?

thanks.

Bad sectors in hard disks are physically bad blocks where the system can not store to or read from the data correctly. Usually bad sectors develop due to frequent power interruption, disk vibrations, mis handling and manufacturing defects(poor media).

If you are already having bad sectors, the first thing you need to do is, BACK UP YOUR DATA and then try replacing your hard disk with a new one.

hope it helps.

hard disk bad sectors are very dangerous for data integrity. Take immediate data backup.

And if possible try running scandisk (or better norton disk doctor) which can identify and mark all bad sectors on your hard disk so that data will not be stored in damaged area.

thanks. but are there any softwares which can correct my hard disk? i.e. is it possible to repair bad sectors into usable good sectors?

i really dont know any softwares that can actually remove bad sectors from hard disks. but, you can use partition magic software or something similar to hide bad sectors on drives.
